ICEM-CIME's main activities include:

An annual General Assembly, usually in October, at which members meet to discuss and plan the activities and internal affairs of ICEM and other issues of mutual concern. The General Assembly is held in conjunction with the International Conference, is devoted to a topic related to Instructional Technology and is hosted each year by a different member country.
Working groups which are set up to explore and report on key issues in the field of educational media technologies
The International Media Days at which a wide range of educational media productions are viewed, evaluated, purchased and exchanged. The Days are held in conjunction with the General Assembly and the International Conference.

An annual International Student Media Production Contest.

A quarterly journal, Educational Media International (EMI) that publishes academic papers and articles about Educational Technology, Online Learning, Media Design and Distance Education.
